Upcoming Worship Schedule

May 19 - What if there are no Other Worlds? (Pentecost)

Prayer Group Online

Join us on Zoom at 7:30 each Tuesday night.

Prayer List (send requests to Pastor Caroline by Wednesday)

Josi Hillary, Joe DeMeo, Jan and Gene Barbato, Alyssa (Sue Kennedy's family), those dealing with grief and loss.

Elsie Carrol

Elsie and her husband John have moved to a memory care facility in Germantown, closer to her son and daughter-in-law.  Her address is in the Narthex.  She would love to hear from her UPB family.

Pups in the Parish

Many, many thanks to all who came out and helped with Pups in the Parish.  Unfortunately, canine flu is running through the shelters and many of our puppies and older dogs could not attend.  Montgomery County also closed their dog shelter for a canine flu outbreak.  Even so, vendors did fine and little Davis (soon to be giant Great Pyrenees) went home with his forever family.

Service & Mission Committee

The Interfaith Coalition of Bowie (ICB) is starting to accept full-size beds, sheets, blankets, and dressers for Bowie fire victims.  If you have sheets and/or blankets, you can contact ICB directly or bring to church.  If you have furniture, please email Tameeka Washington, ICB Founder and President at info@icbowie.org to arrange pick-up or coordinate delivery.

Bravo!

Interfaith Coalition of Bowie Donations to assist the families displaced by the fire at the Woodland Lake Condominiums in Bowie.

  • Mission & Service Committee's Emergency Fund ($300)
  • Cash ($580)
  • Gift Cards ($135)

Special Appeal

In addition to the recent condo fire, another Bowie family was displaced by fire.  The youngest son remains in Johns Hopkins with burns coverning more than 70% of his body.  The family has set up a Go-Fund-Me page to help them cover the rising costs of their medical expenses.

Food Pantry

The Bowie Food Pantry’s greatest needs from the Pantry's Newsletter:

  • Soup
  • Spaghetti Sauce (24-oz. size)
  • Canned Meats (Chicken Breast, Beef Stew, Spam, Corned Beef Hash, Chili)
  • Personal care items including lotion and shampoo
  • Additionally, we stock the Rice shelf as part of the Pantry's adopt-a-shelf program

Please Note:  Regular-sized items are preferred.  Most households consist of 1-3 individuals.  Please check expiration dates.

Want to talk?  Have coffee?  Let Pastor Caroline know.

I am available to meet, talk, or help out on Tuesday and Wednesday at UPB.  My Availability may vary, so please feel free to make an appointment to meet in person.  You are welcome free to contact me via text or phone.

Tech Help Wanted

As we focus on Outreach, social media is an effective tool for connecting church members with the community.  The Communications Committee is looking for someone to post events, bulletins, and worship videos to Facebook.  Please contact Mike Mehl if you are able to help out.  Also, anyone can help by sharing our Facebook page and adding comments.
